About The Role:
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Pinecone Database team, you will be building Pinecone’s core offering - our vector database. You will take part in the entire development cycle - designing database components, implementing them, and running them in production. Your role will focus on designing and building the cloud infrastructure and services which will allow Pinecone to scale to Enterprise customers (for example - BYOC deployments). You will be building a highly complex distributed system that runs on multiple cloud providers, where high performance and large scale matter the most. As we all have a high sense of ownership, you will also be a generalist, work directly with customers, with product managers, and mentor other engineers.
Requirements:
A passion for technology & AI
8+ years of experience with designing and developing cloud-based distributed systems
Experience designing and building cloud infrastructure architectures
Expertise working with one of AWS/GCP/Azure cloud platforms
Experience operating production systems at scale
Strong experience with a systems programming language like C/C++/Rust.
B.Sc. in Computer Science, a related technical field or equivalent experience
Bonus Points
Experience with Rust programming
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, in a related technical field
